Saturday Field Trip

We had a ball, didn't we? We first started at Wendy's, the Fabric Lady and Balsam Queen of West Paris! I personally did some serious damage buying fabric for quilt backs. Wendy's warm and welcome personality invited us to visit again when we have more time so we can tour the balsam end of her business. She will also let me know once she gets more neutrals and tone-on-tone fabrics in.

For those of you who missed the conversation, Wendy's brother is one of the greeters to incoming and outgoing military troops out of Bangor International Airport. Wendy offered those outgoing soldiers a gift of a balsam sachet to bring a bit of Maine along with them. I'm sure that every time they get a whiff of the scent they can close their eyes and be transported back to their home state with fond memories. While she cannot afford to give each and every outgoing troop member a gift, she will continue to do the best she can to support our brave men and women in our military (shown with autographed thank you shirt from the troops).

After some great fabric bargains, we rushed back to Oxford to get to the Oxford Mill End store before it closed. After a bit of shopping, we lunched at the Lost Gull. The lobster rolls were excellent, as promised, and you have to try the hand cut onion rings. Diet? Tomorrow!

Back to Auburn and we all met at Quiltessentials. Hard to say no to all the lovely fabrics, so we didn't Betsy was her perky best and it was good to see Mary Ellen.

This is where we split our three car loads--we went to Gifford's for an ice cream treat while Carole's car went to Dairy Queen. The third car (driver unknown) just disappeared! So, my car figured we were in Auburn, so why not hit Creative Sewing and Jo-Ann's? Guess who we found there? Carole's group!

All in all, we all came home with some nice pieces of fabric, notions, books and balsam. Our tummies were delighted with a satisfying lunch and dessert. And the company, as always, fun to be with. We definitely have to do this again real soon!
