Tuesday's Show and Tell

Lots of quilting projects to share this past week. The first is Sagaree's quilt made by personal clothing for her father. This will indeed be a treasured family quilt!

Diane shared with us her latest project for a new baby in her family. Those prairie points really do finish off the quilt. Super job, Diane!

The next two pictures are of the quilt Kathleen won from the HGTV Crayola Crayon Challenge. Each year a different topic is used to make the quilts which are raffled off and all proceeds go to a different Roland McDonald House each year. For the 2009 raffle, a large box of Crayola crayons were put into a bag and three crayons were selected as each quiltmaker's colorway. These were the ONLY colors than could be used for your quilt. As you can see, the colors for the quilt I made were red orange, midnight blue and forest green. The back (you can see the label) is almost as nice as the front! What made this quilt extra special for me is that I had the opportunity to meet the maker at the COF retreat I attended this past April.

Last, but not least, is Janney's "Sparkling Gemstones" quilt made from the "Jelly Roll Quilts" by Pam & Nicky Lintott using yummy Kaffe Fassett fabrics. No, it isn't Groundhog's Day! Yes, you have seen this quilt posted before. It had been originally made with a different background print, which Janney didn't care for, and she decided to take the quilt apart and change the background to white. Instead of machine quilting, Janney is hand quilting this gem. Kidding around with her on a new name for her quilt, we suggested "Second Time Around" or "Second Time is a Charm". Whatever she calls it, this quilt will be staying around to keep her warm this winter.
