I had purchased two items recently that I would like to share with you. The first one is the Dual Rotary Blade Sharpener. This is a blue circular item with two sanding disks on either side--one for removing burrs; the second with a fine sanding side. All you need to do is unscrew the insert blade holder, screw back together and starting with the rough side, twist the blade around for twenty revolutions. Turn handle over and do the same with the fine sander side. You can unscrew the assembly and turn over the blade and do the same for the other side. For around $17, you can increase the length of your blade life.
These are available at Joann's at the end cap near the clearance fabrics.
One tip on rotary blades you might not know, but do not use the same blade for cutting your cottons as flannels and fleece. They will dull your blades quicker you can blink an eye. I have one cutter marked with "F" for using only on these two items.
The second new gadget is the Sidewinder. This is great! What a pleasure not to have to stop sewing to refill a bobbin! You can use it with either batteries or it comes with an electrical plug. Works quickly and without muss or fuss. Just push the green button to start, and it stops when the bobbin is filled. A nice gift for that sewer with everything!
If you have a new gadget that you would like to share with the group, just email me with the information and I will post it.
