All Things Yo-Yo

It seems like we have an explosion of yo-yo makers in our group as of late. To add to the pile of must-do patterns, check out Kim Diehl's "Welcome Wagon Yo-Yo" pattern from her book " Simple Graces.

This simple pattern uses light neutral prints cut into quarter-square triangles, mixed up and resewn into squares. Top it off with yo-yos and you have yourself a "charming" quilt!

To make this quilt extra easy and a great take-along project or while watching TV during the long, winter months, you can use the Clover Quick Yo-Yo Maker. This tool, which comes in five sizes, is a fool-proof way to ensure perfect yo-yo's everytime.

If you want to make this pattern even faster, just use various 5 1/2" fabric backgrounds for the base. What you will need is the Clover size small and larger to make the center motif. You need one of the larger and eight of the small size. I precut all my circles using the guide I made below. Again, need a faster quilt? Use a larger background block and make your yo-yo's using the Jumbo for the center with large for the flower.

Here is the conversion chart I made up. Be aware that I used pinking shears to cut out the circles of fabric. The circle size DOES include the 1/4" for turning. Remember to cut one and try out your tool before cutting out mass production. These figures are based on my own preferences.

Lt. Blue-Extra Small-Cut a 2 1'2" circle-Makes a 3/4" finished yo-yo
