Email from Diana Whitaker--2010 Raffle Quilt Winner!

(Here is part of an email from Diana about how thrilled she is with her new "baby"...)

"I have mailed your group a hand written note and I have already sent an article to 'Patchwork Press' for the next issue, complete with photo's of the quilt, me and five of my best pals that came over that day to celebrate with me.

What can I say - first, I was floored - I've never won anything - well, maybe a $2.00 scratch off ticket - once!!! I was beside myself when they called me that afternoon - I had friends at the show that day and they were as excited as I....OMG, of Pine Point Quilters won the exquisite piece of art. The workmanship is just lovely, when you say it was professionally quilted - it was, the quilting is just that - professional. The appliqued work - my goodness, you can't tell where one woman left off and another started. You have a very, very talented group of ladies in your group.

I shall treasure this for as long as I'm around - and when I'm not - it will go to a caring and loving home. You understand, as I don't plan on going on to my next adventure any time soon - like in the next 20-25 years....I  plan on taking the quilt to our first meeting in Sept (20th if any of your group is in town) to show the rest of the ladies. And, I understand that it's appropriate to take it to Maine Quilts next year. PTQG is going to send me the info.

I am a brand new quilter. One of my goals after retirement was to learn to quilt....You know - I didn't know how to thread a sewing machine when I started....I didn’t even know how to read a pattern...I started doing things by hand and got started that way - a friend asked me to join a group several years ago but it was too far away, so....my friend and I started Pine Point Quilters...that was three years ago.

This is far more detailed that I intended...suffice to say, I am thrilled with my quilt, I thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart for your very hard and very talented work and I would love to thank you folks in person
some day. Meanwhile, know your "child" has found a loving and cared for new home.

Best Regards,

Diana Whitaker"
