"Fun & Done" Workshop on Feb. 20th--UPDATED

A workshop will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20th beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Dingley Building, Oak St. in Lewiston.

Everyone should have a list included with their pattern, but here it is again if you lose it!

You will be making a “quilt as you go” table runner. This is a super project to use up those small scraps of cotton batting and fabric. Of course, you can pick a color theme to match your home or even a holiday motif.

You will need to bring to class-

****WALKING FOOT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A DECORATIVE STITCH ON YOUR SEWING MACHINE****

Sewing machine, extension cord and all the accessories to do your sewing (including scissors, measuring tape, rotary cutter and mat, flat-head pins, ruler, etc). You can finish the binding with a decorative stitch if your machine can perform that function.

“Fun & Done” template set if you have it. You can make your own by cutting a 9 ½” square from template plastic or cardboard. Then, carefully measure in 1” all around the square and mark with Sharpie. This should leave you with a center square of 7 ½”. Carefully using an Acto knife, cut a slit and neatly cut out the 7 ½” center square. You will have two templates. To see what the templates look like BEFORE cutting, check out the website at:

https://www.baysidequilting.com/store/scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=284

Squares of cotton batting, pre-steamed, ironed flat and THEN cut to exact 7 ½” squares (will need 10 squares to make a table runner). Do not use polyester batting!

The “Fun & Done” pattern and please be sure to make a copy of the template guide on template plastic or paper. Do not cut the original sheet! While this pattern is for a quilt, not a table runner, but we wanted a modified project that would be finished during the class.

Fabric scraps or purchased fabric per the directions. Please pre-cut prior to class.

Ten 9 ½” squares of coordinating backing fabric. For a totally scrappy look, you can use ten different prints.

Thread to match backing fabric.

Travel iron and pad, if available.

Sharpie, pen or pencil to mark square (depending on shades of your fabrics).

Don’t forget to bring along your lunch and a drink.
