I'm probably not the first one to discover this, but it is worth mentioning. While machine quilting a Valentine table runner for my mother (remember she wanted one for each holiday?), I found the dark print I was using wasn't cooperating with any of my light marking pens. I know I have used rolls of adding machine tape to copy my border designs and then pinned them to the quilt and sewed, but found unless I really tighten my stitch length, it usually was hard to remove and pulled at my stitches. Today, out of utter frustration, I grabbed a piece of white tissue paper, cut a strip and copied the border design on it. Not only was it easier to sew through, but much faster to remove and NO pulled stitches. Hope this suggestion helps someone else! :)
Janney emailed me this suggestion--now why didn't I think of that??? You noggin is working OT!
"Kathleen:
Have you considered stacking many layers of sandwich paper 0r tissue or adding machine tape: remove the thread from sewing machine then stitch the pattern on a dozen papers at once. Now stitch over the pattern again, this time with
thread. Paper will tear off with no bitsys left behind.
Erika did this using my box of wide Costco sandwich paper. voila!
perfection in jigtime.
