Transfering photos on fabric

When the topic of transferring photos on fabric was brought up at the meeting on Saturday, I took it upon myself to check into it for us.

I spoke to Sarah at Kinko's in Auburn, and she gave me the following information:

They have their own fabric, but personally, I bring my own. The suggested fabric is a high thread count cotton, such as Kona. It must be unwashed, pressed and cut it about an inch in diameter than your picture. The process is the photo is printed onto the transfer, then on the fabric. It is heat set with a heavy-duty heat presser. Don't think you are going to go in and have it done immediately. Sarah says it takes some time for the presser to heat up, and they request at least 24 hours to process your order.

The two sizes of transfer sheets are 8 1/2" x 11" and 11" x 17". It is $5.00 per transfer sheet AND $2.99 per print. Example: You have several 4" x 6" photos that you can put on the 11" x 17" transfer. The cost is $5.00 for the sheet AND $2.99 for each photo transferred. So, if you do four photos, it would be $5.00 & $11.96 for a total of $16.95 plus tax. If you need the photo enlarged or reduced, there may be an additional charge.

Once the fabric is transfer, it is machine washable and dryable. For more information, you can call Kinko's at 782.8911 or check their website for store hours at http://fedex.kinkos.com/locations
