Maine Quilts 2007 30th Annual Show

For those of you who didn't have the opportunity to visit, here are just a brief sampling of some of the quilts that caught my eye. I simply marveled at the amount of talent, blood, sweat and tears, not to mention countless hours of painstaking work sewing and quilting these pieces of eye candy. If hundreds of quilts, wall hangings and other delights weren't enough, the vendors and their many treats were hard to resist. I really didn't clue into how many fat quarters I purchased until I washed them all, and I can honestly say that I OD on fabric. Along with friends Denise and Pat Schreiber, we hit the Yardgoods Center and Marden's in Waterville before heading back home. If you have never been to the YC, you haven't lived. The owner, a gentleman, picks all the fabrics himself, and he has a wonderful eye for color and design. You might have visited his booth at the show--he was the man in the doggie print shirt. It was good to see Cindy Taylor Clark again--I remember her when she was just Cindy Taylor-- and we had an opportunity to chat about her new pattern line coming out this fall. She promised to let me know once it is available, and I will keep you updated on it.

I also noticed several vendors from the Farmington area, Pins & Needles, who has an excellent selection of 1930's repros, and The Fabric Inn. This would make a nice day trip for those looking for a summer trip, and I'm sure a quick stop for a little lunch in between.

Unfortunately, one of the highlighted exhibits, A Way to Women's Wellness Art Bras did not allow pictures to be taken, so those of you who had the opportunity to visit it enjoyed the bras covered with feathers, coconuts, dominoes, etc. to depict several types of women's struggles with life and her body.

So, without further delay, here are the pictures.
