Sue would like to share the following information with you:
"Mark your calendars for the events listed below. Details follow the list of dates and times.
1. Ethel's ice cream social, Tuesday August 19th, 1 pm at her home. No quilt meeting that night.
2. Shaker Village Apple Sunday in Poland. Quilting from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday
September 28.
3. Area 3 meeting at Ricker Memorial Library, 1211 Maine St Poland 10 am Wednesday
Oct 16. We are co-hosting this meeting with Scraps and Patches and will need to
help with set-up at 9 am.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Ethel will provide ice cream and toppings. If you want to, you can bring a treat to add to the table. Bring show and tell and ideas for activities for our group for 2013-2014. I will have registration papers for this year with me. The annual fee is still $15 for PTQG and $3 for our group.
SHAKER VILLAGE: This is always a fun event. We sit around a table and quilt and get a chance to show our quilting to those who are touring the village. Bring a quilt project to work on, a quilt or two to display, and a bag lunch, and enjoy a few relaxing hours with friends.
AREA 3 MEETING: The speaker will be Connie Benowitz, who will do a talk about Underground Railroad quilts. The block drawing will be a 12" (12 1/2" unfinished) Civil War block of your choice in Civil War reproduction fabric. The winner of the blocks will then be able to assemble a Civil War sampler quilt. Bring a bag lunch. Classic Quilters will be providing drinks and desserts and half of the door prizes.
PROGRAM IDEAS FOR 2013-2014: We will be finishing up the block exchange project in October (Sue-August, Ethel-September, Laurie-October). Some ideas which have been mentioned are: participating in the challenge for Maine Quilts 2014, possibly with Pacific Rim
patterns (these are the 2-color applique wall-hangings like Carole's seahorses for example);
doing a charity project for Newborns in Need, a round robin quilt, a trip to Keepsake Quilts,
a shop hop. Lets brainstorm about these and other ideas and see what we can come up with.
Happy quilting,
Sue"
