Our "Blondie" Charlotte has given me contact information on a wonderful woman who is selling her cotton stash. As you can see by the pictures, most of her fabrics are VIP Cranston, Hoffman and H. Miller. Most look from the 70's to 90's. These are only a few pictures of what she has to offer and more to umpack and add to her pile. I did find several pieces I couldn't live without, especially maroons as they are very hard to find these days. She still has a ton more to unpack and measure, so this is only the tip of the iceberg. There are also sewing machines and sergers, quilt racks, tables, chairs, quilt books, magazines of all types and some wools, poly/cotton blends to pick from. So, here is the deal and how it's going to work.
Mrs. LaPointe will be setting up her sale to occur on Tuesday evening, June 30th at 6:15 p.m. at her home on Webster Ave. in Lewiston. Her daughter will be working with her so we don't have a long wait for purchases. All fabrics will be pre-measured and marked and will NOT be cut. You must buy the entire piece, and if you wish, you and another person can cut it afterwards and share. This is cash ONLY--no personal checks or credit cards--NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE! She was very adamant about this rule, so don't even try. If you find a larger item, such as a sewing machine, you can put it on hold and make arrangements to come back and pay cash for it.
The pricing is still up in the air. She feels that 36" fabric is "rare", thus worth more money. I kindly explained to her current fabric prices in the area, such as Mardens, Jo-Ann, etc. and I think I got her down to $3.00/yd. Now, you might find that still a bit high for your blood, but I would still come and see what she has as you might just find that perfect fabric to finish up a vintage project you can't match current fabric prints available. She will also have some FQ's and scrap bags available for sale. I guess what I am saying is everything is clean and neat, the fabric has been stored very well and is in excellent condition.
If you cannot attend this sale on the 30th, she will then accept people to make appointments to visit her home. She prefers afternoons or early evenings. I will post more information later and will also discuss it at the meeting tonight.
